Inishowen sides experienced mixed fortunes in the quarter final play-offs of the Donegal Intermediate Championship on Sunday.

Urris produced a determined performance at O’Donnell Park in Letterkenny to see off the challenge of a highly rated MacCumhaills side who had won convincingly at Straid two weeks previously.

John Friel’s side survived a late surge from the 14 men from Ballybofey to win by a slender one point advantage and book their place in the last four of the competition for the second successive year.

Their reward is a semi-final outing against Carn’s conquerers Bundoran who have already won in Clonmany earlier this season.

Kieron Canny’s Carn side were no match for the 2009 finalists at Ballybofey on Sunday as they comfortably booked their place in the semi-final stages.
