Buncrana couple for Oscars

Amanda Doherty and her husband Adrian Gill from Buncrana will be among 300 invited guests from all over the world who will attend the Oscars ceremony this year.

The couple flies out tomorrow (February 21) and will stay in Beverly Hills for the duration of their trip. Amanda was part of a lottery for the seats called ‘the bleacher seats’ and was lucky enough to win two tickets.

Amanda took over the running of the Town Clock restaurant in the town recently and no doubt is the envy of all the staff.

Amanda is understandably excited about the glamorous night.

She said: “I really can’t wait, it’s going to be an amazing trip.

“We will be staying at The Hyatt Regency Hotel in Beverly Hills which is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous.

“I’ve always been a huge fan of the Oscars and I watch it every single year. I can’t believe I’m going.”

Amanda said she is most excited about seeing “all the glamour and who’ll be wearing what” and can’t name out a particular star she is most looking forward to seeing.

However, there is one particular actor she would like to see pick up the prestigious award.

She said: “I’d really like to see Daniel Day Lewis pick up an Oscar. He’s a fantastic in all his films so it would be great to see him win.”

Amanda and Adrian will grace the red carpet at 12pm where they will be treated to a number of pre-Oscar events. They will then be whisked off to an Oscars party at the invitation of America’s ABC television network.
