Autumn weddings
The marriage has taken place in St Michael’s Church, Urris, Clonmany of Tina Doherty and Darren Mc Lucas. Tina is the daughter of Michael and Shirley Doherty, Dunaff Head, Clonmany and Darren is the son of Raymond and Vida Mc Lucas, Killian, Malin. Fr. Peter Devlin and Canon Gilmore officiated at the ceremony. Tina was attended by her cousin, Michelle Doherty was chief bridesmaid. Her bridesmaids were Melissa Mc Lucas, the groom’s sister and Tracey Doherty, the bride’s sister-in-law. The junior bridesmaid was Helena Doherty, the bride’s sister. The best man was Neil Mc Gilloway, friend of the groom. Groomsmen were John Doherty, the bride’s brother and Jason Cunningham, the groom’s cousin. The handsome pageboy was Nathan Mc Lucas, Tina and Darren’s son. The reception was held in the Ballyliffin Hotel and the honeymoon was spent travelling.

Nuptial bliss
The marriage has taken place in Cloncha Parish Church, Malin of Michelle McLucas and Neil McGilloway. Michelle is the daughter of Raymond and Vida Mc Lucas, Killian, Malin and Neil is the son of Harry and Josephine Mc Gilloway, Dunegard, Malin Head. Canon Gilmore and Fr. Brendan Crowley officiated at the ceremony. The bride was attended by her sister, Melissa Mc Lucas was chief bridesmaid. The bridesmaids were Karen McLucas, the bride’s sister and Marie O’Kane, nee Mooney, friend of the bride. The best man was Brian Mc Gilloway, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Noel McLaughlin, friend of the groom and Darren Mc Lucas, brother of the bride. The pretty flower girl was the groom’s niece, Megan McGilloway and the handsome pageboy was the bride’s nephew, Nathan McLucas. Trish Lafferty and Anne Byrne provided the music during the ceremony. The wedding reception was held in the Pollan Beach Hotel, Ballyliffin and the couple spent their honeymoon in the south of France.

Cheques Presentation
Farrens’ Bar, Slieveban, Malin Head presented cheques to four local groups at the weekend, the proceeds of their monthly ‘Deal or No Deal’ competitions. Cheques of 200 euro each were presented to representatives of Malin Head Youth Club, Malin Head Community Sports Field, St Mary’s National School and Inishowen Parents and Friends of the Mentally Handicapped. The recipients wish to thank Farrens’ Bar and their patrons for their generosity.

Playgroup Assistant Vacancy
Malin Community Employment Project Ltd (FAS scheme) has a vacancy for a playgroup assistant in the Kiddies Corner Playgroup, which is based in Malin town. Golf Outing
Farrens’ Bar Golf Society Annual Christmas Outing will be held at Buncrana Golf Club on Saturday next (December 1). Tee-off is at 11.30am. Teams of four.

Christmas Day Swim
The Annual Christmas Day Swim at Portmore Pier will raise funds for Malin Head Youth Club. Contact Kevin Farren or committee members for sponsorship forms.

Fundraising Draw
Malin Head Community and Sports Field committee are running a Private Members Draw to raise funds for a new Club House, with a weekly jackpot of 500 euro. The weekly winner of the jackpot for week ending 25 November was Mary Houghton, Crega, Malin Head, with ticket number 8. A special draw was made for the end of the present fundraising series of draws. First prize of 300 euro went to Andrew Sweeney, Slieveban, with number 198, and second prize of 200 euro went to his brother Stephen Sweeney, Slieveban, with ticket number 197!
Development on the new clubhouse will be starting soon. It is hoped to run a new draw in the New Year. Anyone interested in participating should contact a committee member. Existing draw members will have first preference. The committee wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the community for their continued support throughout the year.

Charity Summer Swim
The Annual Summer Swim from the Saddle Rock to Portmore Pier has raised the sum of 2,790 euro. The 21 swimmers have this year split their sponsorship monies between Muscular Dystrophy Society and The Malin Head Red Cross, giving 1,385 euro to each group. The organisers wish to thank the 21 hardy swimmers, collectors, the boats and canoes that accompanied them and the much-appreciated tea and soup makers at the finish. This is now the fifth year of the charity swim and the volunteers are requested to keep up the training for next year!

Christmas Bingo
The Carndonagh Parents’ Committee of the Community School invite everyone to come and support their annual Christmas Bingo on Sunday, December 9 at 3 pm. Usual side prizes on every line and Prizes Galore! Come along and try your luck!!! Admission is 10 euro.

Whist
Whist is held every Monday night at 8pm in Malin Head Community Hall. The results for last week are as follows: 1. John Doherty, (B.), Westown. 2. Kelly Ann O’Connor, Slieveban. 3. Annie Jo Ward, Coastguard Station. Lowest score was shared by Theresa Doherty, Sheskin, and Francis Kelly, Glengad Knockout: 1. Hannah Hunter, Moss Road and John Doherty, (B.), Westown. 2. Philip McCool, Carndonagh, and Kelly Ann O’Connor, Slieveban.
Raffle: 1. Cathleen O’Connor, Slieveban. 2: Annie Jo Ward, Coastguard Station . 3. Colm Kelly, Drim, Ballygorman. The Jackpot was not won. Big money next week.

The Snowball for next week will be 500 euro on 46 numbers or 300 euro on 48 numbers. Christmas Hampers every night, with turkeys and side prizes.

GAA Lotto Draw
The GAA Lotto Jackpot was not won this week, 25 November. The bonus prizewinner was Hayley McLucas, Fawn, Malin. Next week’s jackpot will be 1150 euro.

Malin Bazaar
Scoil Treasa Naofa Parents’ Committee will hold their Annual Bazaar on Friday, December 7 at 8.30pm in St Patrick’s Hall, Malin. Santa Claus will be in attendance. Fun for all the family with lots of prizes.
