First Communion
First Communion was held in the Star of the Sea Church, Malin Head on Saturday 26th May. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Peter Deeney. The Lessons were read by parents Caitriona Doherty and Tommy Mullin. The Offertory Gifts and Prayers of the Faithful were presented by the children. The choir was led by JulieAnne Devlin and comprised of the beautiful voices of children. Children in second class in Urblereagh N.S. who made their first Communion were Andrew Mullin, Shaun Lafferty, Eoin Rudden, John Doherty (R), and Aaron Mc Laughlin; and in St. Mary’s N.S. Rosie Doherty (B.), Megan Toland, Aoife Walsh, Lauren O’Connor, John Doherty B.), Oisin O’Doherty, Cormac Doherty (D.), Joseph Doherty (P.M.), Conor Keane, and Matthew Harley.
Youth Club Presentation
Malin Head Youth Club held its Annual Presentation and Disco on Friday night last, 25th May. This was the last youth club night of the season, and also the last night in the present hall. Master of Ceremonies on the night was Ali Farren. The awards for the various activities were presented by Fr. Peter. A Disco was held afterwards with DJ Ali, while the parents had a cup of tea. The Youth Club committee wish to express their thanks to the sponsors of the awards: James Houghton Construction, Jim Mullin Plumbing and Heating, Ardmalin Caravan Park, Forward Emphasis, and John Doherty (D.O.), Cavan. Thanks to all those who attended the presentation and to the people who donated food.
The Youth Club is now finished for the Summer, but a fortnightly Disco will be held during the months of July and August. The thanks of the parents goes to the hardworking committee.
Playschool Open Day
Playdays Playschool will hold Open Days on Wednesday 13th June and Wednesday 20th June from 10a.m. – 12noon. Enrolment forms will be available on those days. The Playschool will close for the Summer on 22nd June. Any queries to 086 3146155.
Swimming Lessons
Don’t forget to plan for the Swimming Lessons this Summer at Portmore Pier, Malin Head. Swim 1 – Swim 5 on 9th – 13th July. Safety, Survival and Rescue on 16th – 21st July. Enrolment for all swimmers, including adults, will be on Monday 9th July at 9.30a.m. Irish Water Safety now charge €20 per child.
Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation was conferred by Bishop Hegarty on sixth class pupils in the parish of Malin on Thursday 17th May in the Star of the Sea Church, Malin Head. Sixth class pupils from Urblereagh N.S. who made their confirmation were Catherine Gallagher, Karen Mc Laughlin, Christopher Mc Laughlin and Philip Kirby. Sixth class pupils in St. Mary’s N.S., Malin Head were Seamus Houghton, Aaron Mc Daid, Shaun Mc Laughlin and Keiran O’Connor.
Inishowen Carnival

Fundraising Draw
Scoil Treasa Naofa, Malin, Parents Committee are holding a Grand Fundraising Draw. 1st Prize €3,000; 2nd Prize €1,000; and 4 prizes of €250. Draw will take place on 24th June 2007.
Disco
Carndonagh Boxing Club is holding an end of school term Disco in Tulnaree, Carndonagh, on this Friday 1st June. Children Under Twelve from 7.30p.m. – 9p.m. and Under Sixteen from 9.15p.m. – 11p.m. Music is by DJ Steve and Admission is €5. All children to be collected immediately afterwards please.
